These are 1/10 oz Krugerrands, minted as legal tender in South Africa by the South African Mint and contain 1/10 Troy oz of gold in a 22 karat (91.67%) alloy with copper.
The Krugerrand, first minted in 1967, was the first bullion coin that contained precisely one ounce of gold for investment purposes, and was conceived as a means for individuals to buy gold. Still the most famous and widely owned gold bullion coin in the world.
The fractional Krugerrands, 1/10, 1/4 and 1/2 ounce were all introduced in 1980.
