1812-A France Gold Emperor Napoleon I 40 Francs, in XF condition. Coin contains 0.3734 Troy oz of pure gold in .9000 fineness.
Struck during the reign of Napoleon I,before he was forced to abdicate and was exiled to Elba in 1814. He escaped and returned to Paris in 1815, and then invaded Belgium where he was defeated by a joint English and Prussian army.
So this coin was minted before he met his Waterloo (haha).
