1882 A French Gold 100 Francs coin, in EF condition. Coin contains 0.9335 troy oz of pure gold in a .900 fineness.
Nicknamed the "Lucky Gold Angel", these coins were minted between 1878 and 1914.
The obverse features the denomination and date set within a wreath, surrounded by the revolutionary legend 'Liberte, Egalite, Fraternite' (Liberty, Equality, Brotherhood).
The reverse depicts the Winged Genius of the Revolution leaving against a column writing the word 'Constitution', set above the signature of the engraver. With the Fasces and a Rooster (the symbol of France) set on either side of the figure.
Only 37,400 of these coins were struck.
