2009 Vancouver Olympics Silver Maple 1 Troy oz MS-69
Product Description
Starting in 2008 the Royal Canadian Mint added special issues to the popular Maple Leaf $5 one Troy ounce silver coins. There were three different designs, in 2008, 2009 and 2010 to commemorate the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games.
Coins are .9999 fine silver and weigh exactly 1 troy oz. These coins are graded MS-69 by NGC and the holders are marked "One of 1st 200,000 struck". Both coins in stock have a milky stain around the edges of both sides of the coin, unfortunately a fairly common problem with Royal Canadian Mint silver coins.
The coin features a Native American Thunderbird totem, cleverly formed to approximate the shape of a Canadian maple leaf on the reverse, and Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse.
