The Royal Canadian Mint released a series of 3 Gold Maple coin featuring designs that commemorate the 2010 Winter Olympics which were hosted in Vancouver, British Columbia. This coin is from the first year, mintage was limited to 50,000 coins each.
Reverse design includes the regular Maple design used on all Canadian Gold maples, with the 2010 Vancouver Games symbol, a modern interpretation of the “inukshuk,” (a stone sculpture used by Canada’s Inuit people) to the left. On the obverse is the bust of Queen Elizabeth II.
The Gold Maple Leaf 1 Troy oz 24 karat (999.9 Pure) is a legal tender coin struck by the Royal Canadian Mint and carries a face value of Canadian $50. The Canadian Maple is one of the purest gold coins in the world, and minted using gold mined in Canada.
