1986 Hutt River Province Statue of Liberty $100 Unc
Product Description
1986 Hutt River Province "Statue of Liberty Commemorative" silver $100 coin, containing 6 troy oz pure silver.
The Principality of Hutt River, previously known as the Hutt River Province, is the oldest micronation in Australia. The principality claims to be an independent sovereign state having achieved legal status on April 21, 1972.
Obverse depicts the Statue of Liberty as it would have appeared when dedicated in 1886, with the legend "Statue of Liberty Centennial" and the reverse features a pair of kangaroos and "HUTT RIVER PROVINCE" above and "ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS" below.
Although this coin contains 6 Troy oz of 999 fine silver, it does not have the fineness listed on the coin. Usually this is a worrying sign, but these are a well known item, and information can be found all over the internet that verifies this. Just for my own piece of mind I tested the specific gravity of the coin and it came to 10.44 (pure silver is in the range of 10.4 to 10.6).
Coin is in very good proof-like condition, with some black marks above the kangaroos, but no toning.
