Grant DeVolson Wood was an American painter from Iowa, and is best known for his paintings depicting the rural American Midwest, particularly the painting "American Gothic", an iconic image of the 20th century.
This medallion was struck by the U.S. Mint in .900 fine gold, containing exactly 1 Troy oz gold and 0.11 Troy oz of copper. Total weight is 1.11 Troy oz.
Missing the original styrafoam packaging, no great loss there (what were they thinking?). In excellent condition.
