1876-S US Liberty Head $20 Gold Double Eagle XF
Product Description
1876 San Francisco Mint struck $20 Type 2 Liberty Head Double Eagle in Extra Fine (fair estimate would be XF-45), contains 0.9675 Troy oz of gold in a 90% alloy.
Beginning in 1866, the motto “IN GOD WE TRUST” was added to the reverse of $20 Liberty gold coins. This alteration in the design of the coin quickly became known as the “With Motto” variety. Type 2 Double Eagles were struck from 1866 to 1876 at the Philadelphia and San Francisco mints. Beginning in 1870, the newly opened Carson City mint minted Type 2 $20 Liberty gold coins as well.
The Liberty Head Double Eagle has features that exude old-world ideas about design and art.
We are not currently buying ungraded pre-1933 US Gold coins.
